Yana Weinstein and Megan Smith have done a lot of research on how people learn. They have a website about learn strategies. Strategies so you can remember much things on long term. I’m going to tell about one of them: spaced practice.
Spaced practice
The girls found out that cramming doesn’t work. You learn quickly and remember it for a day of two. You can get a nice note, but then you forget almost everything.
Space all of the studying, what you always do in the end right before the exam, out across a couple of days, weeks or even months. And learn every day a little bit. You need to forget something in order to help yourself learning by remembering it. You can’t suddenly decide the day before or from the exam to learn, you need time.
By example: You learn on a day something you did that day in class, but you also learn the most important things from previous classes.
Teachers and students can use this strategy. Teachers by repeat something from other classes and students by learn something again and again.
